Protecting Foundations with Sub-Soil Drainage in Beverley Park
Our team recently completed a sub-soil drainage and below-ground waterproofing project at a home in Beverley Park. The property was experiencing ongoing moisture issues due to natural groundwater moving beneath the structure. Over time, this can lead to damp areas, foundation movement, and long-term damage.
To fix the problem, we installed a new sub-soil drainage system designed to redirect underground water away from the home.
We began by cutting and removing sections of the concrete footpath to allow for trenching. A 29-metre trench was excavated from the rear left corner of the house to a new connection point at the front right of the property. The trench was prepared carefully to ensure the correct fall and drainage gradient.
Next, we cleaned the external wall below ground level using high-pressure water. Any cracks and penetrations were sealed before applying two coats of waterproofing membrane to the wall and footings. This created a strong moisture barrier.
Builders plastic (core flute) was then installed along the trench wall to protect the waterproofed surface. We installed hard PVC main drainage pipework along the full trench length and connected sub-soil drainage lines into the system at multiple points. An overflow grate was added where the system connects to the existing drainage line to provide extra protection.
The trenches were backfilled with 10–20mm aggregate to allow groundwater to drain effectively. After testing and commissioning the system to confirm correct operation, we restored the ground level and cleaned the entire site.
This type of project falls under our broader Stormwater Drainage and Backyard Drainage solutions. In more severe cases, groundwater issues can expose damaged pipes or blocked sewer lines. When that happens, we may also recommend services such as CCTV Pipe Inspection, Drain Cleaning, No Dig Pipe Repair, or Pipe Relining. In extreme situations, full Drain Repairs may be required. Fortunately, for this Beverley Park property, a properly designed sub-soil system resolved the issue without further structural work.
