Sub-Soil Drainage Installation & Waterproofing – Beverley Park

Sub-Soil Drainage Installation & Waterproofing – Beverley Park

The homeowner in Beverley Park had been dealing with ongoing moisture issues around the home, particularly after heavy rain. Like many properties in the area, natural groundwater was building up beneath the structure, increasing the risk of damp conditions, water ingress, and long-term damage to the footings and foundations.

Rather than waiting for visible damage to appear, the homeowner chose to install a sub-soil drainage system and below-ground waterproofing as a preventative solution. The goal was simple: redirect groundwater away from the house and protect the structure for the long term.

Our team began by carefully marking and removing sections of the concrete footpath to allow access for trenching. From there, we excavated a trench starting at the rear left corner of the home, running below the footing of the side wall and extending approximately 29 metres to a new connection point at the front right corner of the property.

Once the trench was excavated, the base was prepared to achieve the correct fall and drainage gradient. The external wall below ground level was then high-pressure cleaned, allowing us to properly seal cracks and penetrations using sand and cement. Two coats of waterproofing membrane were applied to the wall and footings, creating a strong barrier against moisture.

To protect the waterproofed surface, builder's plastic (core flute) was installed along the trench wall. We then installed the hard PVC main drainage pipework, followed by the sub-soil drainage lines, which were connected to the main drain at multiple points. An overflow grate was added at the connection to the existing drainage line to protect the system during heavy rainfall.

The trench was backfilled with 10–20mm aggregate to promote effective groundwater drainage, then tested and commissioned to confirm correct operation. Finally, the trench was brought back to ground level, excess spoil was removed via onsite skip bin, and all work areas were cleaned down.

Sub-soil drainage was installed along the high side of the property to redirect natural underground water flow away from the home, helping safeguard the structure against future moisture-related issues.

If you’re noticing damp areas, water pooling, or want to protect your home before problems arise, sub-soil drainage and waterproofing can make a significant difference.
