Sub-Soil Drainage & Below-Ground Waterproofing – Castle Hill
Our team attended a residential property in Castle Hill to install a sub-soil drainage and below-ground waterproofing system. The goal was to redirect groundwater away from the building footing and protect the home from ongoing moisture issues.
Water was building up beneath the ground level and placing pressure against the foundations. Over time, this can lead to damp areas, structural stress, and long-term damage if not addressed properly.
To complete the works, we first relocated the storage shed at the rear left side of the property to allow safe access. Temporary fencing was installed to maintain public safety during excavation.
We then excavated a trench down below the building footing and exposed the existing stormwater drainage line. Excess soil was removed from site to keep the area clear and safe.
The brickwork and footings below ground level were high-pressure cleaned to prepare the surface. Two coats of waterproofing membrane were applied to the exposed wall and footing to create a protective moisture barrier.
Builders plastic (corflute) was installed along the trench wall to protect the waterproofed surface. PVC main drainage pipework was then installed and connected into the existing stormwater system.
An AG drain pipe was installed along the trench and connected into the main drain at multiple points to collect and redirect groundwater. The drainage system was wrapped in geo-textile fabric and backfilled with 8–10mm aggregate to allow effective water flow and long-term performance.
Once the system was in place, it was fully tested and commissioned to confirm correct operation. The storage shed was repositioned after the soft-fall surfacing was reinstated by others. All rubbish was removed, and the site was cleaned upon completion.
